Names: Prue & Kath

Tell us about The Wardrobe Edit & how you both met?: We met many years ago while working at one of Australia’s top fashion brands. With a shared love of all things style and fashion, we were instantly drawn to each other and when our career paths went in different directions, we vowed to work together again.

What inspired you to start The Wardrobe Edit?: We are inspired by a simple desire to help people look and feel great. Having both worked with some of the most prominent Australian and international fashion brands, we understand that the power of an outfit can have a profound impact on how you feel about yourself and can ultimately dictate your day. We started seeing the impact we were making to client’s everyday lives which made us realise we were on the right track.

Describe your aesthetic in three words?:

P: Classic, Modern, Edgy

K: Fun, Unexpected, Confident

Favourite professional moment?:

P: Being featured in Stellar Magazine and on the Mamamia podcast Nothing to Wear in the same week!

K: There have been so many amazing clients that have been absolute highlights, but one stands out for the incredible email she sent us post edit about how profound the experience had been for her. That was pretty special.

How would you describe your personal styles?:

P: I am a real jeans girl. I love a great quality shirt or knit and throwing in an unexpected twist with a cool shoe or bag or an amazing vintage piece of jewellery.

K: I love to clash a print and will always dress up more than dress down. Like I am going to an occasion, on any occasion!

Who is your creative icon?:

P: Can I only name one?! Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy. Because everything she wore still stands the test of time today.

K: Iris Apfel. She believed in having fun with fashion and not taking it too seriously.

First big fashion splurge you ever made?:

P: An Alexander Wang Bag in Barneys. Sadly, Barney’s is no more, and I am not sure where the bag is!

K: Buying a leather jacket in Paris – I’ve still never dared to do the correct currency conversion!

Morning beverage of choice?:

P: Small Soy Cap

K: Skinny Latte

How has your work evolved over the years?:

P: It’s evolved with confidence. As with anything, the more you do something, the better you get at it and the more perspectives you bring to it. It’s so fun to broaden our offering and also connect and collaborate with other incredible women and businesses.

K: We are ever evolving. From what started off as helping friends with outfit ideas, has evolved into a national wardrobe editing business that has now widened to styling, guest speaking, event hosting and content creating.

Something you’ve read or listened to that has inspired you recently?:

P: A podcast by Ben Crowe which - to my previous point - was about confidence and leadership.

K: It’s actually something I have watched - Palm Royale on Apple TV. The Costumes are out of this world!

What is on your fashion Wishlist for Autumn / Winter?:

P: I am on the hunt for a good loafer, the Marle Cait Cardigan in Rouge as I love a good cardi and a really warm but still chic jacket to wear to Sunday morning sport!

K: A white coat, an amazing pair of boots, quality knitwear.

What’s next in the world of The Wardrobe Edit?:

P & K: The inaugural edition of our seasonal Style Guide!!
